Hiring Execption Form Approval Guidelines

Effective November 20, 2008:

To fill a vacant or new position, or to change a current employee’s appointment, a request must be submitted and approved by the unit head, organization Vice President, VP/CFO/Comptroller, and the President. The specific steps to obtain an approval are as follows:

The steps in the exception process to fill a new position or vacancy are as follows:

  1. Contact ER/HR to provide the appropriate information and justification.
  2. ER/HR completes the electronic Hiring Execption Form and routes to the appropriate administrators.
  3. Once approved, ER/HR contacts the hiring manager and begins the search, search waiver, or appointment change process.
