rapid! PayCard Program

The University of Illinois System offers a pay card program through rapid! PayCard. A pay card is an optional alternative to direct deposit, often utilized by employees who do not wish to have a bank account. You may also use a pay card as a supplemental or secondary option in addition to direct deposit at your bank or credit union. The rapid! PayCard offers many of the conveniences of a checking account from your mobile phone or computer.

Important: Some services may have fees set by the card vendor. See the fee schedule for applicable fees.

  • Direct deposit your pay onto the card
  • Accept deposits from multiple sources (Tax returns and other employers) onto the card
  • Receive optional additional card(s) for a dependent
  • Use anywhere Visa debit card is accepted
  • Withdraw money via ATM (free from Allpoint and MoneyPass ATMs)
  • Withdraw money over-the-counter (free at banks displaying the Visa® Acceptance Mark)
  • Transfer money card to card and/or bank account
  • Request a convenience check when needed
  • Pay bills online
  • Deposit checks and manage money via rapid! Mobile App

Eligible Employees

The rapid! PayCard is available to all employees receiving wages from the University of Illinois System, including:

  • Employees without a traditional checking account.
  • International employees working temporarily in the United States.
  • Employees who use pay cards from other sources.
  • Employees who would like a convenient secondary deposit without opening a traditional bank or credit union account.
