The Policy and Administration unit of UHR is the primary resource for University-wide HR policy development, implementation, and interpretation. Compliance responsibilities include initiating back office infrastructure for compliance and undertaking appropriate initiatives to coordinate compliance with State and Federal mandates that inform human resources policies and practices at the University. Through extensive scanning of the regulatory environment and tracking of pending legislation, this unit strives for a proactive approach to anticipating and managing compliance with changes that impact the University.

UHR Policy and Administration also coordinates benefit plan management tasks for the University, including negotiating contracts and hold harmless agreements, monitoring vendor contract compliance, maintaining vendor relationships, and coordinating on-campus vendor support. This unit is also the central distribution point for University-level human resources communications, disseminating guidance on benefits, policy, and other topics of importance to the HR community. In this capacity, the unit develops and maintains content for UHR web site (including NESSIE) and provides functional project management for employee self-service applications.

Additionally, UHR Policy and Administration is responsible for institutional reporting, University-level compensation planning, research and analysis of higher education human resources trends, and serving as a representative to University-level advisory and advocacy groups.
