Employee Assistance Programs

State Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The State Employee Assistance Program is available to employees who are eligible for SEGIP. If the employee participates in a State health plan, EAP services are also available to their eligible dependents.

The State EAP is a free, voluntary, and confidential program that provides problem identification, counseling, and referral services. Employees will be directed to a Guidance Consultant to assist them with a variety of concerns. All calls and counseling sessions are confidential, except as required by law.

To view and access all services available to you, create an account and login using the steps below:

  • Visit https://www.guidanceresources.com/groWeb/login/login.xhtml
  • If you have not registered on the ComPsych website:
    • Select the Register tab 
    • Enter Organization Web ID: Stateofillinois and select the Register button
    • Choose a User Name and Password
    • Enter your preferred email address and choose security questions and answers
    • Select the Submit button
  • Once registered, log in using your user name and password.

Getting help is easy, convenient, and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 833-955-3400 or 800-697-0353 (TDD/TTY). A Guidance Consultant will answer your questions and, if needed, refer you to a counselor or other resources.

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

Faculty/Staff Assistance & Well-Being Services (FSAWS) is an embedded employee assistance program at UIUC. We provide assessment, short- term counseling and referral for our employees and members of their immediate household. Our services are free, provided by licensed professionals and most importantly, confidential, except where directed by law. Crisis appointments are available every day for those in immediate need of support.

FSAWS also provides supervisory consultations regarding troubled employees and group services for workgroups that may be experiencing difficulties. Group services range from providing support after a critical incident to conflict resolution and team building that focuses on moving a troubled work group toward growth and advanced problem-solving skills.

The Child Care Resource Service offers workshops and training seminars for child care providers on child development and heath topics. Parents are welcome to attend these sessions for a small fee. Their office numbers are 217-333-3252 (Champaign County) and 800-325-5516 (Elsewhere).

The Department of Community Health has a monthly colloquia series on topical health issues. Their office number is 217-333-2307.

Clinical Employee Assistance Services is a confidential counseling resource that specializes in working with employees and their family members who are experiencing personal problem(s) that may be affecting the employee’s job performance. The assistance program is available to help clarify issues, identify resources and offer follow-up assistance as needed.

The Office of Applied Psychological Services (OAPS) is a mental health clinic in the Psychology Department at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). Psychotherapy and psychological testing utilizes approaches that are based on scientific theory and supported by scientific evidence, with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques that are offered to patients. OAPS serves the UIC community, including faculty, staff, and students, as well as those living or working in the greater Chicago area.Their office number is 312-996-2540.

Human Resources Employee Relations Section counsels academic professionals, nonacademic staff, and supervisors campus-wide on a variety of work-related issues involving employee and departmental rights. Their office number is 312-355-3055.
