Benefit Programs

University employees may be eligible for one of two benefit programs:

The University also offers certain optional benefit plans, which may be available to additional groups of employees.

Change Your Benefits

Changes to many benefit plans can be made only during the annual open enrollment or when experiencing a qualifying life event.

SEGIP: Benefit Choice occurs during May, with changes effective July 1.

ACA Plan: Open Enrollment occurs in the Fall, with changes effective January 1.

  • Qualifying Life Status Change – Enroll/make changes at any time. Date you enroll or make changes determines the future effective date of coverage.  Contact UPB for questions: UPB Service Portal

Some plans allow enrollment and changes at any time, although depending on the plan, certification of good health may be required:

Eligible employees are required to participate in the State Universities Retirement System.
