Qualifying Life Events (ACA Plan)

Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) plan, you may make changes to your coverage outside of the annual enrollment period if you have experienced a Qualifying Life Event (QLE)

Eligible Qualifying Life Events

You may enroll yourself and/or your eligible dependents in ACA coverage if you experience:

  • Marriage
  • Birth of a child
  • Adoption or placement for adoption
  • Qualified Medical Child Support Order (QMCSO)
  • Loss of other coverage (employee, spouse, or dependent)

These events allow you to:

  • Enroll if you were previously not enrolled
  • Add eligible dependents
  • Change your coverage tier

Removing Coverage (Dependents)

You must remove a dependent from coverage if one of the following occurs:

  • Death of a dependent child
  • Loss of spouse or dependent (divorce, annulment, or death)
  • Dependent becomes covered elsewhere
  • Qualified Medical Child Support Order (covered under another plan)

Employee Coverage Changes

You may make changes to your own coverage if you experience:

  • Gain of other coverage
  • Loss of coverage

Important Deadlines

  • You must submit your change request within 30 calendar days of the qualifying life event.
  • Coverage changes are generally effective the first of the month following the event.

Failure to act within this timeframe will result in no changes being allowed until the next enrollment opportuniety, unless another qualifying event occurs.

What You Need to Do

  1. Report the event within 30 calendar days by logging into your account at www.myenroll.com and select 'Submit A Life Event'. Complete all steps through Confirmation.
  2. Provide supporting documentation, such as:
    • Marriage Certificate
    • Birth/adoption paperwork
    • Proof of loss or gain of other coverage
  3. Ensure your request is complete to avoid processing delays

Key Reminders

  • ACA plan changes are limited to those directly related to the qualifying event.
  • Requests received after the 30-day (calendar) deadline cannot be processed.
  • Coverage changes are not retroactive beyond plan rules.
