Other Information

Offers of employment by the University of Illinois System may be subject to approval by the University’s Board of Trustees and are made contingent upon the candidate’s successful completion of any criminal background checks and other pre-employment assessments that may be required for the position being offered.  Additional information regarding such pre-employment checks and assessments may be provided as applicable during the hiring process.

Sign-On Offer Incentive – Language to Include in Applicable Offer Letters

In accordance with applicable University policies, some positions may be eligible for a one-time sign-on incentive. The sign-on incentive is typically processed within the first 60 days of employment and is considered taxable income and subject to appropriate withholding. Reimbursement of the sign-on incentive may be required if employment is terminated, involuntarily or voluntarily, within the first 12 months.

Data Collection for Employees FAQs

Employees Working For the University Outside of Illinoisdue to significant tax, legal, and other implications, OBFS Policy Section 18.16 requires compliance with relevant laws for working in other states or countries. Units must ensure steps outlined in OBFS Policy Section 1.5.1 have been completed prior to hiring or allowing an employee to work in a state other than Illinois or in a foreign country.
